When you have a large family it fills you with joy to see them grow up. The only thing is, it that this can also be quite stressful at some times. My wife and i have been together for 26 years and i have 5 children. Because they are all getting older as well averaging at 20.

So I decided it was time to have some me time, my wife agreed I needed some time off work and away from the family. So she went ahead and booked me a spa holiday. I was shocked that she would book one of these holidays for me. She assured me I would have a great time. If all went wrong I thought that I could just go into Thailand and do touristy things, at least she booked a good location.

I arrived in Thailand and was picked up by a car and taken to the Spa. It was phenomenal, now I don’t know what Spa Hotels are supposed to look like, but this just looked like pure luxury. The rooms were massive. When i got into my room I was stunned, it looked like a 7 star penthouse suite. Arriving here was amazing, I then was guided to a lovely decking and was sat next to a small lagoon like pool surrounded by pebbles. It really made me feel at peace here.

I had quite a few massages their, the favourite I have to say was the fusion stone massage, I was placed on my front and some heated round stones were placed on my back. My back didn’t hurt like it used to and I felt so chilled out. I did refuse the beauty products though, even though they were good I couldn’t live down the shame of telling my mates I had used them. After the trip, I felt like a new person and very happy, I felt relaxed and looked forward to seeing my family.

I did make sure that the following month I booked one of these spa holidays for my lovely wife to thank her for sending me out there for the week.  I would definitely recommend doing it youselves as well

I recently traveled around India on a cruise and suffered really badly from motion sickness. When I got back I did my research so that I didn’t suffer again, and I wanted to share the info I found here:

1.) Position of your cabin. When you book your cruise, tell the agent that you suffer from motion sickness and they will locate you cabin nearer to the centre of the ship. This will minimise the amount of movement that your cabin experiences, even on steady large luxury cruises and will dramatically reduce the chances of feeling ill.

2.) Eating ginger. Ginger has been a motion sickness preventive for many many years. It has within it a number of different natural chemicals that inhibit the gag-reflex of the stomach, there reducing your chances of throwing up. You may however still feel a little nauseous as ginger doesn’t prevent this.

3.) Walking about. You might not think its works but you’d be surprised. The unique movement that the brain experiences when on a boat is something it is not accustomed to and so it reacts badly. If you’re up and about and able to walk around the whole boat for a little while you movement sensory organs will begin to be more comfortable with the sensations and you feel much better

4.) Motion sickness tablets. This is without out doubt the most effective option for most people and is the most widely used technique. These tablets work to reduce the sensitivity of the brain to movement receptors around the body, therefore decreasing the disorientation and dizziness it feels. This unfortuantly has the side effect of often making you feel drowsy so be careful which activities you take part in. You should take motion sickness tablets ideally a couple of hours before you start the cruise to allow the ingredients to get into the blood stream. This will mean that you’ll be protected against sickness from the minute you step on the boat.

On my recent trip to New York I picked up some handy tips on tipping -

Tipping in America is simply the done thing.It shouldn’t matter what the customs are in your home country, when on American soil your should respect the tipping culture. The following is a top 5 guide to tipping for anyone visiting the beautiful country on American holidays.

1.    Have some dollars ready. When you exchange your currency for US dollars, be sure to ask for a good amount of dollar notes that you can stick about ten of in your wallet at all times to cover yourself.This means you won’t have to ask for change and you can tip whatever value you want easily. Although requesting change is quite commonplace also so don’t be shy about asking if you need to.

2.    Bars. If you are buying your drinks from the bar area then look to give a tip per beverage. This ratio should come down little if you are buying a large number of drinks in one go. If you are seated and your drinks are served to you by a member of staff at your table then look to add on to the total at the end of the night.

3.    Restaurants. This kind of depends which what type of restaurant you are eating at. Cheaper take-away style places only really should be tipped maybe 15% whilst more up market eateries should be tipped at a rate of around 20-25% of the bill.You should increase the tip amount for staff who put in the extra effort you or are particularly helpful.

4.    Bags.A tip of a dollar per bag is the standard for porters who bring your luggage up to your room. You should really stick to this figure unless you want to give more as a result of exceptional service. Bag carriers at airports should be tipped between to per bag.

5.    Poor service. If you are not happy with the standard of service then don’t feel you have to tip. But make sure you express your reasons. Constructive feedback is generally appreciate in the USA and the people you give it to are rarely offended.
